Individual Points I Want to Talk About

TUESDAY

01. I can guess that this week’s going to be one of those weeks where what comes out of Sonny’s mouth is incomprehensible. I should keep a list going. Here’s the first. When Jason first got into the business, Sonny told him once he was in he’d never be able to get out. If the situation were reversed, and Jason had come to Sonny and told him that he wanted out to be with Elizabeth and Jake, Sonny would have damn well told him it was impossible. But now because Sonny wants out, getting out is acceptable. Not only acceptable, but it is EXPECTED that Jason be obligated to take over whether he wants to or not. (I guess Jason missed that in the fine print.) And then to top it off, Sonny practically accuses of Jason purposely trying to sabotage Sonny’s new life with Kate because Sonny will actually have a life and Jason won’t. Huh? If I were Jason, I’d tell Sonny he’s absolutely right: I DON’T want Sonny’s life. That’s why I didn’t claim my son. That’s why I’m an enforcer and not the boss. That’s why I have shunned power at every turn, except for when your behavior made it absolutely necessary, Just because I work for you, just because I’ve risked my life on more than one occasion for you and your family, doesn’t mean you have the right to expect me to take over for you just because now you want to get out, even though you were the first one to tell me once you’re in, you’re in for life.

02. It’s not that Carly wants Spinelli to find her a town with minimal crime, and no connection to Sonny. It’s not that she wants Spinelli to get her and Morgan fake identifications that can’t be traced by anyone. It’s that she really thinks Spinelli is going to do all of this and keep it from Jason. Dream on, Carly.

03. Sonny, you are an idiot. I would suggest that you are VERY CAREFUL regarding your choice of words in front of Jason. Telling Jason he’s being vindictive by not taking the burden of the business away from you, and then telling him you have a chance to be HAPPY with Kate? HAPPY? With Michael a rutabaga? You think Jason is going to tolerate that from you? Right now, Jason doesn’t believe that either one of you deserve any happiness at all, so I’d stop using that as an argument. “What you do you pay for. You don’t get to have a nice life, and neither do I,” Jason tells Sonny.

04. Johnny, there’s trust, and then there’s trust. Sure you can trust Lulu; you can trust her to care about you, and never consciously or purposely do anything to hurt you. But then Sonny didn’t consciously or purposely wish harm to Michael. All I mean is that Lulu can be trusted to MEAN WELL, but can she be trusted to DO WELL. Lulu paints her father as a big-time scam artist. But he’s mostly a harmless big-time scam artist. Jerry Jacks is also a big-time scam artist. (Which one would YOU want to owe money to?) All of Lulu’s best intentions aren’t going to help Johnny if she’s screwing stuff up.

05. Jax left me? What nonsense. And then you turn right around and say you don’t blame him. So you’re taking your kid and running away. Do you intend to tell Jax where you’ve gone, or is he going to continue to keep paying the emotional price for your guilt?

06. Sonny-The-Asshole strikes again. Is Spinelli some sort of slime that he isn’t even allowed to mention your children? You treat him like crap, and it’s time you paid that price for that, too. Spinelli should have you arrested for assault. He certainly should never do any work for you again. GOOD FOR YOU, MAXIE. I love it that you stand up to Jason and Sonny.

07. And what is Sonny’s excuse for attacking Spinelli? He’s sick and tired of people telling him he doesn’t love his children, and he’s sick and tired of people telling him he’s a bad father. Great. So where – please point to the exact part of the conversation – where Spinelli called you a bad father who doesn’t love his children? You attacked poor Spinelli because you could; because attacking any of the other people – the people who are REALLY the ones telling you these things – aren’t people who are going to stand meekly by and take it.

08. And then agreeing with Kate that it should have never happened, and then dismissing it like “that’s the way it is” is ridiculous. But what’s really ridiculous is that this is Kate’s place of business. Exactly what right does Sonny have to come into her place of business and start beating up on a defenseless kid? Nice image, Kate.

09. I absolutely LOVE Max and Diane, especially when Max isn’t behaving like a wimp. Mind your own business, Milo. What are you going to tell me … that based on your many years of age … or based on your many experiences with women … that you’ve got anything I would have any interest in hearing? Telling a woman that a guy could screw up at his job because he was taken by her, is flattering, yes. But telling a woman SHE could screw up at her job because she couldn’t keep her hormones in check, is really stupid.

10. And then there’s Maxie dragging Spinelli back to her room in case he has a concussion. She continues to be as clueless about his love for her as he was about Georgie’s love for him. He’s laying in her bed with her staring into his eyes, and she wants to know why he’s so tense? She’s going to change, and spend the night in bed with him, and never acts like there’s anything sexual involved.

11. Carly, am I supposed to believe that it never occurred to you that running away and getting another identify means that you will have to abandon Michael?

12. Logan, you’re wasting your breath. All the things that make Johnny someone Lulu should stay away from, are all the things that she wants; they’re all the things that she thinks turn her on. She has no clue about getting hurt because she’s never been hurt. People fall all over themselves keeping her safe, no matter what hair-brained scheme she cooks up. In that way she’s just like Carly. So of course she’s not going to listen when you tell her that Anthony is a bloodthirsty killer; she’s sure that could never happen to her.

13. You know, Jason, one minute you’re practically in tears telling Elizabeth how everyone always expects you to fix everything. And that’s pretty much true. But if you don’t want people to put you in that position, Jason, then why put yourself in that position? It would be one thing if you had a problem, and you thought and thought about it, and there was only one solution, and it had to involve you to make it work. But people expect you to fix everything because you jump it and tell them you will. Carly wants to run. All the arguments you’re making clearly indicate that running is not best for her or Morgan. If you had told her if she stays, you promise that the three of you will work out a solution, that I could understand. But instead you promise her you’ll take care of it. And you mean it. So you’ve put yourself in the middle again. And if you take over the business for Sonny, then you’ll be putting yourself in the middle yet another time.

WEDNESDAY

14. So Jason will take over the business if Sonny gives up Michael and Morgan. I thought the reason Sonny wanted to get out of the business was so that he could spend time with his kids. If he has to give them up, what’s the point of giving up the business. Of course, if what Sonny really cared about was Kate, and not his kids, then he could give up all parental rights to his kids, and go off with Kate. After all, he surely can’t think that he’s going to give up his rights, and then be allowed to see the kids. Carly has made it clear the only way to keep Morgan safe is to keep him away from Sonny.

15. So Jax would rather get to the bottom of their problem than stand at the front door of his own house and have smalltalk. So naturally Carly says, “Do we start with why you left, or where you went?” Too bad Jax isn’t able to say, “Why don’t we start with why you felt it necessary to fuck your ex-husband, AGAIN, and then rush home to fuck me, too?”

16. Mac, how can you be so stupid? We’re supposed to believe that Spinelli SNEAKED into Maxie’s bed? Get serious.

17. And then there’s Lucky talking to Sam. Speaking of Sam, what ever happened to the lawsuit Alexis was going to file when she found out that Sam had been fired from Everyday Heroes because of her injury?

18. Jax is right, Carly. When it’s all said and done, WHATEVER you need, you can NEVER seem to find it with Jax. You’re always going to see Sonny or Jason, anybody but Jax. And that’s the way it will always be as long as you live anywhere near them. It’s just the three of you, and you’re never going to let anyone else in. Fantastic!

WEDNESDAY (continued)

19. See, here is a perfect example of the great value of information. Carly is working from a position of strength because she has information: she knows Jax went to Rome, and she assumes he went to screw Brenda (It takes one to know one, doesn’t it?) because that’s where Carly’s information says Brenda lives. Too bad Jax doesn’t have the pictures of her fucking Sonny in the back of the limousine. So when Carly says, “Is that why you went to see Brenda?” Jax can say, “Is that why you screwed Sonny?”

20. Hey, Mac, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t tell Maxie you have the right to police her sex life because she’s living at home, and then forbid her to move. Wake up. Actually, you don’t need that house. You don’t need anything that big. You should move out, and give the house to Maxie.

21. One of the lines of the year from Mac, of all people. Robin says, “Maxie is an adult”, and Mac replies, “Only on paper.

22. Mac has absolutely no business discussing Maxie’s sex life with Robin, or anyone else for that matter. How would he feel if Maxie started discussing his private business?

23. I gotta give it to Robin, though. Credit where credit is due. First of all, she sticks up for Maxie, which irks Mac no end. Secondly, she asks Mac what Maxie’s explanation was, only to find out that Mac didn’t bother to stick around to listen to any. And finally, he tells Robin he needs her to talk to Maxie? About what, exactly?

24. What was really interesting was Maxie’s conversation with Sam: “Sleep with Spinelli? I would never sleep with him; I like him too much.” Huh?

25. The one thing that must really be hard for Carly is how Michael is everywhere in that house. And someday it’s going to be hard to decide whether to stay, or to move somewhere else where the memory isn’t so deep. The conversation she has with Jax about how Michael permeates every part of the house was terrific.

26. No Anthony, I’m not saying I’m too important to take care of your little girl. I’m saying I’m too stupid as a babysitter to take care of your little girl.

27. Sonny is right about one thing. No matter what Carly tells Morgan, he’s going to think he did something to drive his father away.

THURSDAY

28. You gotta at least give Sam credit for trying to make Spinelli “desirable”. But Maxie, come on; do you have to embarrass Spinelli by making him seem even wimpier than he already thinks of himself?

29. Carly, Michael getting shot is like the fat woman who gets pregnant because now she has an acceptable excuse for her obesity. But that only goes so far. When the kid is 5 years old, it’s hard to blame his pregnancy for your sixty pound permanent weight gain. With Carly, it’s Michael’s medical condition. It’s become her excuse for everything she’s done, from screwing her ex-husband to pushing Jax away like a stranger.

30. Good going’ Elizabeth and Epiphany. You treated that patient like crap. Just because ED medical is easy for you to talk about, does it look like it would be easy for him to talk about? It was clear he was embarrassed about something. Maybe if you’d spent any amount of time looking at him, or thinking about it, you would have figured it out. And on top of that, there’s been a lot of medication problems at the hospital lately. That man should have been questioned; he might have been able to provide some helpful information. But no, they just let him walk out. Elizabeth admits to Lucky that she’s been suspicious about the meds situation for some time, and Lucky seems to be aware of incidents where the medical isn’t working. So why are they both just sitting around going nothing? Elizabeth should have said something before this. Is she waiting for an invitation to speak?

31. Well, Jason may be the new boss, but nothing has changed; Carly thinks she can just barge in at any time. And I’ll bet she didn’t count on Jason telling her that he can’t see her anymore either, assuming she really wants to keep Morgan safe. And since that’s not what she wants to do, she dismisses all the reasons she originally used to get Sonny to give up the boys. Remember how Carly told Jason about how she KNEW she should have stayed away from Sonny, but she was too selfish, and she thought she could handle it; that it was what she wanted. Well, now we’re in the same boat with Jason. She’s not thinking of Morgan. Even though she knows she should be staying away from Jason, just like she should be staying away from Sonny, that’s not what she wants. She’s being as selfish now as she was before.

32. Jax was a real idiot. He comes to Kate’s office, why? She’s trying to talk business, but as usual, he’s not paying any attention. He left his house pissed at Carly, and then gives Kate all kinds of shit because she’s tired of watching Carly pull everyone’s strings. What is his problem? Why did he come there in the first place? Kate never supported Carly, and that couldn’t have been what Jax wanted anyway. I guess Kate was supposed to not support Carly while not supporting Sonny either.

FRIDAY

33. Really nice, Alexis. You can’t wait to pounce all over Sonny, demanding he give up his rights to Kristina as well. But I’ll bet as soon as Alexis needs money for something, Sonny will be the first person she goes to.

34. Johnny, when you make a deal with someone, you stick to it. I don’t care if Maxie was trying to get one up on Lulu. l The fact is that she asked you to fulfill your obligation to her by going with her to a stupid party in Manhattan. She didn’t ask you for a million bucks. She didn’t ask you to sleep with her. You should have gone. You’re a welcher.

35. Good for you, Jax. At least you clearly see Carly’s hypocrisy when she complains about Sonny and the violence that follows him, but remains silent about the violence that follows Jason. They’re both in the same business, and if Carly WASN’T trying to punish Sonny, she’d have to see that, too. But while she refuses to admit she’s punishing Sonny, she sure doesn’t blame Jason for what happened to Michael.

36. “IF YOU WANT TO KEEP KRISTINA SAFE, ALEXIS, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH JERRY JACKS?”  Thank you, Sonny, for one of the best lines of the week. In fact, if I were Sonny, I’d tell Alexis that I’ll sign away my rights to Kristina when she signs a document agreeing never to see or speak with Jerry Jacks. Sonny is also right when he tells Alexis she can’t seem to keep dangerous men out of her life, and therefore Kristina’s life.

37. It amazes me that there is absolutely no security in the Zacchara household. This isn’t the first time Jason or Sonny has shown up, and no one knows what’s going on. My god, how many times does there have to be a situation in that house before these people get their act together and hire people who are real security? How does YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY get into your house and get it on fire without any security noticing?

38. Anthony, how can you be so stupid? You destroyed two of Jason’s shipments. Just who in the hell do you THINK did this? And you had to LOVE Jason just standing there.

39. THE BEST PART OF THIS WEEK WAS THE FRIDAY PREVIEW FOR MONDAY. Claudia and Nik? Fantastic! Jason telling Sonny Jason doesn’t work for him anymore? Fantastic!
