Individual Points I Want to Talk About

MONDAY 01. Well, let’s start with Nikolas. I guess princes don’t just pick up the phone and invite you over; they have to formally send you a note. And of course, I Assume you’re like me – when someone asks me to come over, I always put on a cocktail dress. Ya, Ya, I know he’s a prince, but a cocktail dress? Come on. 02. And poor Nadine; could she be more obvious, more desperate, more needy? Okay, I’m exaggerating a little, but not a lot. “You didn’t ask me to bring my medical bag …” so that provides me with an excellent opportunity to pump you for information about you and Claudia. 03. Controlling, irrational bitch, eh? If I gave you those three words, and asked you whom they described, I can think of a number of women, Lulu, you included. And here we go again. You must have a tracking device on Claudia, ‘cause there you are right on cue, interrupting a private conversation like you owned Johnny. Just once I’d love it if he told you to wait your turn. 04. And while we’re on the subject, boy how I’d love to smack that smirk right off your face. 05. Sometimes what comes out of Sonny’s mouth is truly fascinating because it shows an intelligence and ability to manipulate that I don’t believe Sonny is capable of, or intelligent enough to figure out. Here is a perfect example. Sonny doesn’t want Mike’s debt settled; Sonny wants Jason to throw the guy who beat up Mike out of town. Actually, Sonny wants to make sure everyone is still willing to kowtow to him when he wants something done. But that’s not the point. It takes a very, very intelligent person to try and manipulate Jason by saying, “I want you to run that bastard out of town, UNLESS YOU’RE NOT GOING TO DO IT JUST TO PROVE TO ME YOU DON’T HAVE TO.” 06. Oh, I see. Sonny doesn’t care that this loan shark beats the hell out of people, he’s pissed because the loan shark should have let Mike default YET AGAIN simply because he was Sonny’s father. Why does your father deserve to be treated differently? It’s not like this guy went out of his way to target your father, single him out, and beat the hell out of him. Jason is right: if your father doesn’t want to get beat up, then he shouldn’t welch on money owed. 07. Let me get this straight. Nikolas wants Nadine to consult on the building of the clinic, and he’s GOING TO PAY HER $5,000 A WEEK? If he values her input so much, then he should just hire her full time to consult now, and then head the pediatrics part of the clinic when it opens. He’s going to pay her $5,000 a week? Where do I find somebody like this? 08. And Nadine, if you’re insulted by the thought of being paid, and/or you just don’t want the crap that goes with it (and all your were logical and made total sense), take the money, and give it to charity every week. $20,000 a month could sure help a lot of people. 09. Hey, Sonny,
what do you think is going to happen when Kate realizes that your
desire to bang her is directly associated with every time you lose
another piece of your power base? And lookee here, it didn’t take
her long at all. 10. GIVE IT A REST, LULU. My god, don’t you ever stop nagging Johnny? What would you do if someone told you to get rid of Nikolas or Lucky? The thing that gets me about you is that you’d actually like it if he got rid of Claudia. But any man that would throw his own sister under the bus – not because she was disloyal, or disrespectful, or even stupid, but because she didn’t get along with his latest bed bunny – is NOT someone I want anything to do with. And it’s because you can’t see that, that makes Claudia right. 11. So according to Mac, everything they’ve got shows that Ian Devlin acted alone. SOUNDS LIKE THE WARREN COMMISSION, DOESN’T IT? Well, Carly, what did you expect? These guys don’t know their collective ass from a hole in the ground, so what did you expect them to dig up? First of all, you ought to be glad that no one has brought up the fact that Michael shot Kate Howard. But secondly, You’ve been grief stricken about Michael. You’ve banged your ex-husband, treated Jax like crap, and almost destroyed your marriage. If you’re that upset about Michael, then why in the hell haven’t you hired your own group of private investigators to figure out what really happened. 12. You know, Carly, I understand that you’re upset about Michael. But Mac lost Georgie, and would it have killed you have said a kind word to him about Georgie and his loss? In fact, I don’t recall you ever expressing any sympathy to Mac at all, and that stinks. 13. People who answer a question with a question inevitably have some kind of game going on in their head. After listening to Sonny, Kate has every right to ask him if he wants to take back his position as head of the mob. So instead of answering, naturally he asks if she would stay with him. I would never answer that question. Or I might say NO just for the shock effect. See, Kate has never really come to grips with whether she really cares if he’s in the business; if she wants a relationship with Sonny only if he goes legitimate. TUESDAY 14. Good goin’, Claudia. It’s too bad that stunts like these ($20,000 to sleep with Johnny and get caught by Lulu) never work. I’d love to see this one pan out. 15. Let me get this straight. Alexis wants Jax, whom Sonny refers to as “Candy Boy” to convince Sonny to give up custody of Kristina? Alexis, you must be back to smoking that stuff that almost got you tossed in jail because this is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. So naturally Jax appeals to Carly. And since Carly hates Alexis, Carly basically makes it clear she has no intention of helping Alexis. Frankly, I don’t know what else Alexis expected. Carly has never like her, and she certainly wasn’t going to endear herself to Carly when she had Sonny’s child. Carly hates any woman who’s ever had anything to do with Sonny. At least she’s up front about it. So Alexis, my suggestion is that you find something on Sonny (after all, he is a mobster), and then give him a choice: give up Kristina, or give up your freedom. 16. Boy, Diane, every single thing you said was something Sonny didn’t want to hear. He didn’t want to hear that giving up Morgan was the right decision. He didn’t want to hear that Jason was doing just fine. He didn’t want to hear that the transition was handled smoothly. And he sure didn’t want to hear that if he tried to get the kids back, Diane would refuse to be his attorney. Now he’s lost control over her, too. 17. So let me get this straight. Nikolas has been arrested for breaking and entering, EVEN THOUGH it’s not breaking and entering if the door is unlocked and open. If you didn’t have to break in, how can you be arrested for breaking in? Nadine has been arrested for solicitation, EVEN THOUGH no money exchanged hands, and there was no conversation regarding what Nik would get for his money. As for the idiot who called Leyla a terrorist and then got pissed when someone belted him for his stupid comment, I’d make him realize that the right information placed in the right newspapers would cause him far more trouble than an assault charge is worth. 18. Carly, you have absolutely no right to bring up Sonny’s kids, to use them in any argument, since you made Sonny give them up. You can’t have it both ways. “For the sake of the boys …” doesn’t mean anything anymore. You took them away, so expecting Sonny to do anything allegedly for their sakes is inappropriate. 19. Spinelli was absolutely wonderful at the reception with Leyla. But please burn that shirt. WEDNESDAY 20. Love the line from Curtis. He takes one look at Robin and says, “I guess you didn’t need my daughter after all.” 21. Saying, “You don’t have to worry about me ever going back to the business”, and staying out of the business, are two totally different things, Sonny. 22. I cannot imagine why anyone would like the idea of her boyfriend being able to watch her work from his apartment. That’s too creepy for me. I’m still trying to get a handle on just what exactly Johnny can see. I mean, it would seem to me that Kate’s office is the only thing Johnny can see, but since I have no idea what that whole office “complex” looks like, I don’t know. 23. Another thing I can’t imagine is why people have to carry on important conversations in public in the MetroCourt lobby. First there’s Alexis, trying to get Jax to help her with Kristina. Then there’s Kate, talking to Carly about how badly she treated Sonny the night before. Why can’t these conversations ever take place in private? 24. Okay, so forget for a moment that the guy in the coffee shot is the idiot from the reception. Let’s just suppose some jerk comes to this coffee shop for, of all things, COFFEE. He gets into a tussle, and suddenly there are a bunch of people with guns and some woman telling him he’s in a shitload of trouble. 25. I CANNOT WAIT for when Carly finds out that Kate was Sonny’s girlfriend long before he ever knew Carly. 26. And while we’re on the subject, Carly, don’t fill Kate’s head full of how she’s afraid you’re going to steal Sonny back, and then say that your marriage should have nothing to do with the conversation. It has everything to do with the conversation. If you’re going to steal Sonny back, that will kill your marriage for sure. So are you going to try and get back at Kate through Sonny, or are you going to keep your marriage intact? Be careful, Carly; I can see Kate having this same conversation with you in a few weeks or months. I guarantee that if Kate wants to, she’ll make your life a living hell. Don’t think she couldn’t seduce Jax if you push him too far. 27. So of course Sonny wants Kate to go away immediately to prove he’s still got power over her. And when she refuses, he acts like it doesn’t matter, but it does. Here’s another person he has no control over. |
WEDNESDAY (continued) 28. You know, Jason, I get that you think the screaming and yelling Carly is good because she’s showing some of her old spunk that you haven’t seen since Michael got hurt. But at the same time, why don’t you encourage her to put that anger and hostility into something more productive than this constant hatred of Kate? Blaming Kate for Michael is absurd, and allowing Carly to continue to do that doesn’t help anyone. What has Kate ever done to you that would make you throw her under the buss like that? 29. Sorry, Elizabeth, but just because you (like most women) think that a guy is giving into his fear of being committed and tied down, and there are just tons and tons of men out there who would love to raise their child with the woman they love. Well, guess what Liz, I’m not one of those people, pure and simple. I’m not giving into fear; I simply don’t want to be a father. I am not afraid of commitment. I am not afraid of settling down. I am not afraid of responsibility. Afraid of commitment? I’m the best neurosurgeon around. I didn’t get that way being afraid of commitment. I’m committed to my profession. Afraid of responsibility? When I operate, I willingly take responsibility for every one of my patients’ lives. If that isn’t responsibility, I don’t know what it. I’m committed and responsible to my profession. I am not committed and responsible to baby production. When that child is born, mothers and fathers are responsible for that child for the next 18 to 21 years, or more. Not wanting to be tied down that way isn’t a sign of weakness, no matter what you may think. It’s only a sign of weakness when you want to do it, and the other person doesn’t. If both Robin and I had absolutely no interest in having kids, would that be a sign of weakness? No. Nobody would call it that. THURSDAY 30. Okay, This thing with training Spinelli is funny, but the BEST PART was getting Spinelli to understand that a real man never drinks a cocktail through the straw. 31. And while we’re on the subject, Spinelli, when you get someone like Jasper Jax to agree to train you, you SHUT UP and take the training. You don’t question everything he does as ineffectual or inappropriate. Don’t question him; shut up and listen and learn. 32. Acting jobs must be really hard to get. Why does the guy who plays Logan bother to stick around so he can be called Monkey Boy? We hardly see him, and when we do he says virtually nothing. What a waste. 33. “Robin, I’m the father of this baby, and it’s time we figure out just what that means.” HOORAH! FINALLY! CLARIFICATION! 34. One of my favorite movies is “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. Of course I’m talking about the original version. Anyway, Practically every time James Mason says something, Arlene Dahl mentions her dead husband. Finally, Professor Lindenbrook has had enough. “Is your husband going to be accompanying us on this entire journey?” he asks (or something to that effect). That’s the way I feel about Nik and this clinic. Every time he says something about it, he has to bring up Emily’s name. If I were Nadine, I’d want to know if Nikolas is ever going to be able to mention the clinic without Emily being with them the whole time. 35. You gotta love Giselle. She’s such a snake. It’s amazing how it’s okay to be a jerk as long as you say it nicely and in a sophisticated manner. I just loved it how Maxie and Lulu just stood there watching two heavyweights go at it, and both of them knowing that the best thing they could possibly to is keep their mouths shut and stay out of the way. 36. So here’s Spinelli at the tailor’s with Jax, and questioning what’s going on. Spinelli’s clearly too clueless to realize the obvious: that women like well-dressed men far more than dweebs in tee shirts. But the tailor is the person who stole the show. When he led Spinelli away, he barely touched him, like he was afraid Spinelli would give him something that would make his brain shrivel up and make the tailor want to wear dungarees. 37. You know Anthony, it’s really hard for a person to wrap his arms around the concept that once you were a psychotic, merciless, killer, but now you’re okay, when you say things like, “Tell Johnny I stopped by, Lulu. Just say that it’s nice to know that I can find you whenever I want.” Oh, you’re cured all right. No threat. 38. Isn’t it nice to know that you can have quadruple bypass surgery and just continue to drink and smoke cigars, with seemingly no ill effects? 39. Let me get this straight. Patrick is in the middle of bearing his soul to Robin, and instead of listening, she decides she has to have a full-loaded pizza, and Patrick has to go get it right away? Excuse me? And then he comes back to find her in a heap on the floor? 40. So Anthony Zacchara just drops in on Lulu. And as soon as Kate is out the door, Lulu skips out on work once again because, once again, she’s just got to find Johnny right away. Of course the only thing she can tell him is that daddy Zacchara stopped by She’ll tell Johnny what Anthony said. Johnny will then reiterate the same stuff about his father they always talk about, and nothing will get resolved. So why does this necessitate Lulu skipping out of work to find Johnny? 41. Excuse me, Nadine, but it isn’t cheating when the person you would be cheating on is dead and gone. And who are you to cast aspersions on Claudia (“Nikolas is way too honorable to ever sleep with a woman like that.”) You don’t even know her. And Leyla isn’t helping the situation, being so certain that Nik and Claudia are sleeping together when they aren’t. 42. For someone to sweep Giselle off her feet, he’s got to be good. Spinelli is terrific with the British accent. 43. Nadine, did you REALLY ask Nikolas if he was sleeping with Claudia? DID YOU REALLY DO THAT? FRIDAY 44. Max, you are out of your mind if you think Sonny is going to think of you now as a pal, You’re even more deluded if you think he’s going to go fishing. The primary problem is that it’s hard to fish in a suit, and I don’t think Sonny owns anything other than suits and bathrobes. I must admit, however, the thought of Sonny with a fish pole, in his suit, trying to bait the hook, getting those $500 a pair shoes all wet, does make me pause. I’m glad Max indicated that he and Sonny did NOT have to be in the hot tub together. 45. You gotta love Diane. She cries to Jason about her dysfunctional relationship with her father, and then tells him not to worry because it’s not billable. 46. About the only thing I hate more than someone who asks a question that is absolutely none of their business, is someone who asks that question, and then, after getting the information they want, say how sorry or mortified they are. 47. The one area of writing I do like is the way they purposely allow Claudia to give the impression of something without ever admitting to it, or lying. Like, “Nadine, what Nikolas and I do is our business.” Right now Nadine would probably bet the farm that there’s something going on between Nikolas and Claudia. GOD, PLEASE MAKE THAT A REALITY. Or how about the line, “Don’t get your panties in a knot; I’m not sleeping with Nikolas – yet.” And then she giggles that little giggle. 48. And while we’re on the subject, Nadine, I think if I hear that “Nikolas is grieving and has to be protected” I’m going to wretch. Forget about Saint Emily; it’s time Nikky hung out with the big, bad girls. How about a remake of The Wild Bunch? Nik would look great on a Harley, dressed in black, don’t you think? 49. Sharon, have you looked in the mirror lately? If you had, you would see that the chance of Lucky dumping Sam to be with you is a negative number. Also, men don’t appreciate being made fools of, and by berating Sam in front of Lucky, you’re saying that Lucky is so stupid; he’s hanging out with a woman he shouldn’t be hanging out with. 50. Robin, if you have to tell your doctor what’s going on in your head, I suggest you get a new doctor, and fast. She should be two steps ahead of you. 51. Spinelli has done an absolutely brilliant job with Giselle. I keep panicking because I’m scared to death that some idiot is going to find it necessary to blow Spinelli’s cover. I was sure Lulu was going to shoot off her big mouth. DAMN MAXIE. 52. DAMMIT CLAUDIA, you SHOULD tell Jason what’s going on. I’m going to repeat this. Tell Jason you want to talk to him alone. Go off with him, and show that you’re a woman who’s done her homework. Tell Jason that you found out that the police are wrong; that Ian Devlin was working with someone. He was working with Jerry Jacks on a bunch of drug deals. Show Jason all the stuff you got that Alexis also has, so Jason can verify the information. Alexis found all sorts of evidence showing money transactions when both Devlin and Jerry were in the same towns at the same time. Then tell Jason Jerry found out what you were doing. He tried to kill you, and threw you in the river. Nikolas will verify that, and even Alexis knew Jerry had thrown something into the river. Tell Jason that when Jerry found out he said he would go to Jason and tell Jason that Claudia set the whole thing up – unless she cooperated with him. Claudia then tells Jason she was coming to him with the information when Jerry accosted her, and would have killed her for sure had not Jason come along. Jerry would be in far more trouble than Claudia. 53. Now let’s take a minute to discuss Claudia’s “admission” to Nikolas. She can say that she was half-dead and delirious, and she was reliving the last moment before she was stabbed, trying to say what Jerry was up to. I’m telling you, this would work. But no. Claudia has to become another cowering female, while assholes like Jerry are written to be all-powerful. |
