Individual Points I Want to Talk About

CONGRATULATIONS TO GENERAL HOSPITAL FOR ITS AWARD AS BEST SOAP. I GIVE THIS AWARD TO THE ACTORS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN UNBELIEVABLE ABILITY TO TAKE HORRIBLE WRITING AND MAKE INTO SOMETHING PALATABLE. MY HAT IS ALSO OFF TO THE GENTLEMAN WHO DOES THE CASTING: THIS MAN IS TRULY BRILLIANT. HE BRINGS WONDERFUL ACTORS TO THE SHOW, AND THEN THE WRITERS WASTE THEIR TALENTS. WHAT A SHAME.

MONDAY

01. Patrick, haven’t you had just about enough of Anna, the great agent? Maybe if she got arrested for battery she might keep her hands off you. Stress? Robin’s got to stay away from stress? The only person causing stress is Robin.

02. Kate, what’s going on between Sonny and Jax just isn’t any of your business. Just because you and Sonny are engaged, that doesn’t give you the right to know every single thing that’s going on in his life. You do have a right to know if what they’re talking about threatens your business or your life, but that’s it. Get used to it.

03. Okay, Jerry, there are times when you’re just what the doctor ordered, especially in a house that never believes in security. I’ve lost count of the number of times people – dangerous people to the Zaccharas – have just waltzed in like they owned the place. Anthony, instead of trying to kill Jason, you’d be better off blowing away your security force.

04. You know there’ s something seriously wrong with Carly when she considers Jason telling Sonny the baby is Jason’s to be the only plausible thing to do. PLAUSIBLE? Plausible that Jason went behind Sonny and Jax’s back and screwed Carly? And there are a few questions I’d like to ask so we can get this plausibility thing locked down, most importantly, the sequence of events. Did Carly screw Jason first, then run over to Sonny’s and screw him in the limo, then go home and screw Jax? Or did she do Sonny first, then Jason, and then Jax? Maybe she left Jason for the end. After all, she did need a lot of comforting.

05. Kate keeps saying, “There can’t be any lies between us”, expecting Sonny to agree. But notice, he says a lot of stuff, including how he wants to make her happy, and a lot of crap about Carly’s past, but he never answers the question.

06. Well, Alexis, you went to Jerry, and he handled the situation. And he was very good. Of course, you will be very happy to have him on your side, AND NOW YOU’RE STUCK. Jerry will expect you to keep making him happy. One hand will be expected to was the other. And the DA in bed with a ruthless psychopath, who can blackmail her into doing what he says – just like Anthony – doesn’t bode well for the future.

07. And speaking of the future, Ric, you better get some balls and fast. You’re being shown up by Jerry Jax, and it’s only a matter of time before Alexis calls you on the carpet for working for the man who’s threatening Kristina. And whereas you have every right to bitch at Alexis when she had Jerry around the kids, you don’t have a leg to stand on anymore since you not only work for a mobster, and you couldn’t be counted on to protect Kristina; Jerry had to do your job for you.

08. Finally! Elizabeth, THANK YOU for the best information of the week. Robin says, “If only Patrick wanted to be a father,” to which Elizabeth says, “Actually, you’re the only person left who believes that.” In other words, Robin, WAKE UP. PATRICK CHANGED HIS MIND. And if you aren’t careful, the whole hospital will line up to testify on Patrick’s behalf, not yours. You’ll be out a lot of money, and you’ll look like a total idiot – all while Alexis and Diane make a shitload of money trying to show each other up.

09. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Carly is going on and on, the shit is hitting the fan, AND SHE HASN’T EVEN TAKEN THE PREGNANCY TEST. For all we know, she’s not pregnant. What kind of nonsense is this? Thank god there’s Jason who shoves the test kit in her face and yells at her to take the damn test. My god, why in the hell won’t you take the test, Carly? ALL OF THIS STUFF AND SHE’’S NOT PREGNANT ?????

10. “He’s really rude,” says Maxie. Maxie, pull your tongue back in.

11. See, Claudia, all men are pigs. Nikolas found out about Michael. I’m sorry if you thought that he might be different, that he might not use the information against you as soon as he had an opportunity. Well, here we are, and now if you don’t get daddy to lay off Kristina, he’s going to tell Jason your role in Michael’s shooting. All men are pigs.

12. Let me get this straight. This new doctor shows up, and suddenly, with all the other things they could write about, this doctor decides there’s something mentally wrong with Spinelli. Huh? You know what, no matter where this story line is going, get rid of it now.

TUESDAY

13. I just love the fact that Anna has told Robin she’ll testify for Patrick. Even then Robin can’t see why everyone doesn’t agree with her. Robin, I told you at the beginning, go to the sperm bank. But no, you got pregnant with Patrick’s kid, and now things are all a mess.

14. Hey, Elizabeth, what other choice does Patrick have? And as far as taking Robin to court means she’ll dig in her heels even keeper, WHO CARES? She will lose in court, no matter how deep she digs in her heels. What do you think she’s going to do; hold Patrick off with a shotgun in her hand? Actually, instead of concentrating on Robin, Patrick is really the center of it all. You gotta give him a lot of credit for sticking around trying to make things work, even when Robin treats him like shit. But maybe he should just make it clear to Robin that he’s had it, and this is the last time this conversation is going to take place. Either she accepts him now, or he’s leaving and she and the kid will never see him again.

15. Robin, if you REALLY want your mother’s support, then stop saying and doing stupid stuff, and maybe you’ll get it. Your mother is under no obligation to support stupidity.

16.  And Robin, if you don’t realize that this is ALL ABOUT YOUR PARENTS, then you need help.

17. And Anna, stop threatening Patrick. “If I persuade Robin to trust you, and then you hurt her…” Hey, Anna, people hurt each other; even the ones who love each other. You might as well get used to the fact that your little angel IS going to get her feelings hurt once in a while, especially when you consider how ridiculously illogical she can be.

18. And Patrick, get out while you can. I can just see Robin wigging out one day, calling her mother, and telling her you hurt her. Mom freaks out, tracks you down, and blows your head off, thus fulfilling her desire to kill Robin’s father by killing you. This is what awaits you, Patrick. Good luck.

19. So Carly isn’t pregnant, so I guess she’s got to find something else to cause trouble over. Off she goes to Kate’s. She told Sonny she was pregnant and Jason was the father. Then she went to Jason and demanded that he say he’s the father. And now when she finds out she’s not pregnant, she has to go over and harass Kate?

WEDNESDAY

20. Carly, how dare you threaten Sonny, telling him if he ever does anything else to hurt your marriage with Jax, you’ll make sure he never marries Kate. Really? Carly, if there’s a threat to your marriage – and there is – it’s not coming from Sonny; it’s coming from you. Stop sleeping with your ex-husband when you’re married to someone else. Stop running to Jason all the time instead of going to your husband.

WEDNESDAY (continued)

21. So Carly says that if Sonny doesn’t play ball (frankly, I’m not sure what she wants) or something, she’ll destroy the wedding by telling Kate she and Sonny had sex. Go ahead. Not only will I call you out as a lying bitch, but I’ll make sure Jax hears every word of the conversation. He’ll beat the land speed record as he’s dumping you and filing for divorce. So either both of us shut up, or you are in the middle of a real mess, Carly.

22. See, Sonny, you were stupid. You should have NEVER admitted to anyone that you slept with Carly until you found out the results of the pregnancy test. And when it was negative, then I would have NEVER ADMITTED I ever had sex with her that night, and I would have dared her to prove it. I would have said that the thought of screwing any woman after what I just had to do with Michael would have been considered abhorrent. In fact, I might try lying my way out of it anyway, but it might get really messy. Sonny could say that telling Jax to get a paternity test was because of Jason, not himself. And then I would tell Jason that he misunderstood, and I never said I slept with Carly, only that Carly was saying I slept with Carly. Then I’d hope Kate would believe me over Jason and Carly, especially since Carly also said Jason was the father, and everyone knows that’s a crock of crap.

23. Things have really changed when Spinelli can even suggest to Jason that Jason find something else to do so Spinelli can be with Maxie. Wow.

24. And while we’re on the subject (we’re not really), there’s something I’m confused about. Carly makes Sonny give up the boys to keep them safe. Yet she would have gone around telling everyone she was pregnant with the new mob boss of Port Charles. It’s one thing for Carly to say she wants to stay Jason’s friend – even though he had no business letting her. But for her to mercilessly be on Sonny’s back about how dangerous he is to be around, and then for her to let the world think she’s playing footsy with this guy, is nuts.

25. Sonny, I’m sorry, but you’re just not going to be able to walk into Jason’s office, bully people around, and get to act like the boss whenever you miss it. I agree that it would be a very nice way to live, but you don’t run a successful business like that, and Jason won’t stand for it. Please find something to do with your life that doesn’t involve trying to get your business back. That’s not the only place where you can be a power broker. Look at Candy Boy. He’s probably got more money than you, and he manipulates companies and builds hotels. The point is, you don’t have to be The Godfather in order to be a powerful and respected man. Try it, and maybe your attention will be on your new business, and not on the mob. It’s too bad that Jason doesn’t have a better bedside manner. He could have told you he didn’t want or need your help in a lot more tactful way. But if you had something else to do, the fact that Jason didn’t want your advice wouldn’t bother you. In fact, you certainly wouldn’t be approaching him

26. Logan Hayes is dealing counterfeit drugs? Do you realize we still don’t know why he was dishonorably discharged?

THURSDAY

27. Hmmm. There’s Logan trying to deal “discount” drugs, and there’s our new doctor not being indignant about it in any way. And since he hasn’t said a word about what happened to Nikolas (and it’s clear Nikolas cares), what are we to think? Could our new doctor be undercover, yet another government agent? Has he decided to crack this counterfeit drug ring on his own?

28. Which reminds me. Do you realize we never found out jack shit about Ian before they killed him off? Clearly, he was the plastic surgeon who worked on Jerry. And they kept dropping little hints about something happening in his life, losing someone important to him, that made him the way he was. A plastic surgeon turned oncologist, and an assassin in his spare time. Now that’s a combination you don’t see every day.

29. There are a number of reasons why GH was named Best Soap. Unfortunately, none of them have to do with writing. However, I’m convinced one of the reasons GH won was because of the fantastic relationship which exists among Diane, Kate, and Alexis. Here the dialog is terrific, worth of three incredibly intelligent women. Why can’t the rest of the show be like this?

30. So finally, after all this time, Jax decides that he should offer Spinelli a job? Okay …

31. See, Lulu, there are times when it’s best to keep your mouth shut. Stop railing on Johnny about his sister. Maybe every time Johnny sees you, he should start railing on you about how your brother is a cop, and how he hates cops, and how he wishes you could see him as the rest of the world does. The two of you would be broken up in less than a week.

32. Anthony, please don’t expect anyone to believe that you want to see your son out of love and fatherly concern. When Johnny was eight years old, you tried to kill him. And please don’t try to feed me the “I was sick then but I’m better now” speech. You were sick then, all right, but not the way they say. And you’re still sick.

33. The scene between Carly and Claudia was dynamite. It is amazing what power comes from these two women when they’re together, and there’s no one else on the stage getting in the way.

34. Okay, this is my favorite bullshit of the week. Anthony: “I’ve been waiting and worrying. It would have been respectful and considerate if you’d shown up in person to reassure me.”
Johnny: “I didn’t want to see you. You threatening to drown a little girl just so I wouldn’t have to spend one night in the clink”
Anthony: “You’re my son, John. I will do whatever it takes to protect you, you know that.”
Evidently, it takes drowning a little girl to protect Johnny.

35. Unbelievable. Have you ever seen anyone as self-absorbed as Carly? Now she tells Jax that Kate is using Jax to get back at her?????

36. You can tell something’s going on with Logan. All of a sudden the writers have him getting all bent out of shape, selling drugs. While I understand that no one in their right mind would want to spend their life being called Monkey Boy, it’s just weird that this has to start out of nowhere. “You could have saved me”? Nothing like taking responsibility for your life, is there.

37. THANK GOD JAX DOESN’T LISTEN TO CARLY, and fall all over himself to do what she says, and believe what she says.

38. The guy who brings the flight plan IS AN ASSHOLE. If I were Jax and Kate and found out that this guy carried tales, Not only would he be fired, I would make sure he never got a job again. “Honesty, Mrs. Jax, it was just a kiss”. OH BROTHER.

39. Logan is back, and you know that isn’t a good sign. He’s clearly looking for trouble.
